In the Studio..

I have all my

Shopping done

dear ones..

and I am in the studio

noodling around..

Some projies
are not finished..

like this
little

Flower Journal

I keep evaluating the pages..

ripping and tearing old things I have done

and adding new things..

until I feel happy with the spreads...

and drawing..

I have been drawing too..

Sometimes the only way to capture what you
want to say is to

Just picture it yourself!!

Hope you are having a glorious

Holiday
Month!!

April Art Journal Pages

The garden..
is my one weakness..

ahh.. you know me too well..

ok..
it is
a truly
happy place..
one of several..

as you know dear reader,
I adore
all the mundane chores..
watering, weeding, raking, trimming and planting..

and our spring here was absolutely magnificent...

we had so many blooms..
and the bougainvillea were exceptional..

Caterina Giglio, April Art Journal Pages, The Color of Flowers..

so...
I tried to capture that subtle beauty in my pages for last month..
and I was late, getting these pages to you...
precisely because I was spending so much time
outside..

Sometimes, my friend..
the beauty of this world created just for our pleasure, moves me simply to tears...

I find that beauty, that movement of feeling very hard to express..

As I sorted through my ephemera...
I found a color chart for Flower Colors..
with a corresponding page of the names of the colors, which was pretty charming..
and decided to use that as my background..

The weather changes so quickly here..
last month we had fireflies and crickets and suddenly this month
we have cicada and love bugs..

and if you don't know what love bugs are..
just google it..

suddenly it is summer..
and I will be in the studio more and the garden less..
as the rainy season is upon us..

Ingredients: Acrylic paint, antique and vintage ephemera, tissue papers, wrapping papers, colored pencil.

This week I am working on my new Vlog post..

Why it is OK to be a Scatter Brained Artist...

and I am starting my May pages..
as well as getting a journal ready for submission..

so much to do..
and I love all of it..

life is so amazing..

See you on Friday...

September Art Journal Pages

How do you illustrate
a
Hurricane?

I had about a million ideas
swirling around in my mind...

and when that happens..

when my monkey mind starts up
I know it is usually time to just start

with a meditative process that
shuts down the chatter..

and listens...
to the deep stillness
that knows...

If you watched my last YT video,
then you know that I collaged and decollaged both pages
with a newsprint magazine,

to watch the video,
just scroll down to the last post

I ripped up the pages and glued and tore
them back and you can still see the print below
in the center of the hurricane..

but
I forgot to mention that I used my torn handmade paper
technique for the body of the hurricane in the center..

the white papers below..
that create the circle...

So...
what is with all the little butterflies?

Ingredients: Collage and Decollage, acrylic paint, watercolor pencils, handmade papers, paper ephemera, Liquitex paint pens, pencil.

They followed us on our journey..
from our evacuation
and all the way home..

and we felt comforted by so many
tiny messengers of
joy...
