account,  PastandPages..

She makes large waterfall journals..

and I thought it would be fun to make tiny books 

in the same way..

try it and play with it..

I love making them.. fast, easy and lots of space..

How NOT to make a Junk Journal

sounds like I made all kinds of mistakes..

but really..

I just find the use of  the word junk to describe 

handmade book making

a misnomer...

at best and a disservice to the craft of bookmaking at least..

Bookmaking is such a great art ..

and I am always learning about the craft of fine art books 

and 

altering antique books.. 

So here is a little video on creating a 

new book from a well loved 

volume..

complete

with discarded bits..

sometimes referred to as

Junk.

Fabric Book Part 2

Here is Part two 

of my

Fabric Book

today we are working on pages..

I used handwritten antique papers, tea towels and hand dyed 

fabrics, made from old table cloths and cotton scraps..

 

Next time gentle viewers,

 we will collage the pages

with papers and fabrics..

Until then, have fun dying fabrics and stitching them into your

gorgeous covers..

Ciao, dear hearts..

This journal can easily be adapted to use with a 

sewing machine

or even just using glue for the collaged cover..

 

but the signatures do need to be stitched into the book..

Mini Chunky Pocket Book

It's a great weekend for book making..

so lets make a pocket book..

 

Just for fun..

to store lots of fun bits..

I imagine oodles of them..

in a big round tin..

like little cake slices..

are so charming..

and

this one is so chunky and the pages are just yummy..

 

that you will really want to make one..

use what you have ..

recycle, reuse, upcycle..

always my mantra and it is what makes 

my art my own..
