Works in Progress

Ciao gentle readers..

I am working on two paintings.. this one of my daisies
From last years garden
And a Goddess painting of
Diana.. she is not ready for show yet..

The first photo above taken yesterday and

the one below as I started.. so.. making progress

but most people have no idea how long fine art takes

To finish

And I shared this bottom textile with you

On the last post, but this latest photo is

stitched in .. though still in process

Black on black is hard to photograph but
Hopefully you can see the progress..

The garden is taking my time already because global
warming is make things green up too fast
But I am trying to balance art
And garden…

Back In The Studio..

Ciao my gentle readers..

I have been working in the studio.. and my jet lag is gone..

I had started this sketch before we left for our

European adventure...

using Blackwing Pencils and Fabriano paper..

I love her smudgy look and as it is Autumn..
obviously that old cold
North wind is blowing!
Sketching keeps me attentive.. I notice more things,

tiny bits that matter..
because details always matter..

and I am still working on
Demeter
above and below...

I am getting some details defined and making decisions
about how I want her to look...

I wanted some kind of detail on her chemise beneath her coat..

tiny dots on her chemise

but I don't want to distract from the Pomegranate..

I have also started work on my new

Diana

painting and it won't be long before

I will share her progress with you..

I have also been sorting thru my fabrics and making decisions about

a new mixed media stitchery..

Work keeps me from focusing too much on the

terrible things facing us right now..

we feel so grateful to have arrived home safely.. travel is coming to

a standstill...

&

As always I am grateful for you dear readers and viewers!!

My Goddess Painting and Vacation!

Ciao dear ones!!

I have been working on my Goddess Painting.. Demeter..

she keeps morphing on me..

changing from my original plans...

I love the butterflies.. they are a tiara of transformation

she is pining for her daughter..

Symbolist art has always fascinated me and I am comfortable taking my tine
with her...

I shot a tiny video so you could get a sense of her size and how she looks
I know she will change before she is finished
but this gives you a good idea of where she is headed...

We are headed to Europe and spending a few days in Roma.. I plan on going to

and then we will take a Mediterranean cruise...

we will go to several countries and one place I have wanted to visit is Malta

and at the end of the cruise we will go to

Porto

and stay with family for a couple of days..

...

So I will be closing my galleries

for sales until November 1, 2025

until my return..

and I will be posting only to

Social.. so follow me there..

Thank you for stopping by and viewing, reading, and supporting my work!

I am very grateful to you!!

Black Iris

Ciao my gentle viewers...

I made a tiny video of my

New painting...

Black Iris..

its always nice to see at least part of
an artists studio ..
isn't it?

and here is the photo of the
arrangement

below..

Black Iris 12 x 16 on canvas

It is the only floral painting that I have done that

has a white background...

the Iris are from my garden of courser..

and the arrangement was in my Kitchen..

it's a nice contrast thought...

I think that flower is so abstract in form..

not easy to paint...

but I am pleased with the way it turned out..

My Floral gallerie is

in

Representational Art

thank you so much dear readers!!

Eternity in Motion Installed..

We are home

dearhearts.. and the trip was wonderful!

We got the paintings installed ..

and they looked fabulous in their space..

if you are interested in viewing smaller

abstracts.. go to

the

gallerie

They were 36 x 48.. quite large and yet the space is so large..

they almost looked small to me!!

They loved them and hung them right away

which made me feel great..

it is so nice to be able to give

art and cheer a home..

I am back in the garden and the

studio..

and will have a tiny book to share soon..

and as always

thanks for stopping by

the

Lily Cottage..

of the installation...

We are also seeing family and friends

The "Gina" Series

She is finished!

My latest painting of my dear friend and muse, Gina..

this is a documentary series that I have been painting for about

9 years..

My Gina Series are all acrylic paintings on cradled boards at different times in her life..

Celestial Gina

9 x 12

This new portrait is when I met Gina, and is from a photo taken in the 1990's. I had just met her, she was 38 a single Mom, with a nursing degree working as a massage therapist.

That Rat Bastard

11 x14

The title and subject is something many people can relate to .. however Gina was brave enough to share how she was feeling about the relationship..

Gina in the Rain

16 x 20

Hair. Curly girls understand that it if you are confident in the rain it is a matter of
Self Love.

Gina Fights the Beast Covid

12 x 16

Gina works as a nurse in California, when the pandemic hit, all elective procedures were canceled and she was
forced into becoming a holy witness to the suffering of her patients. She texted me a photo in her uniform asking for prayers for herself and the hospital.
I translated that into this portrait.

This project is on going..
I have no idea  how many portraits will be painted..
but I appreciate your kind attention..

this is a powerful project for me to undertake
and has been years in the making..
but one that I think is important..

Thanks for stopping by
as always I so appreciate you...

WIP.. Persephone..

Ciao dear ones..
I am still working on my new

Persephone
painting..

I work on her everyday..

and I have her tattoos painted ..

so many details...

I changed several details..
I have placed her hair over her right shoulder and

and still have to darken it..

I am unsure about creating more tattoos ..

I think she needs some colorful Tatts below the quote..
on her neck and above the leaf design,

but I am sure she will let me know..

I like her no nonsense gaze and steely confidence..

we all need that
don't we?

I wanted to let you know
what is going on.. in the studio..
and I appreciate you for

stopping by the
Lily Cottage..

Persephone

A new painting..

my dear ones, was started last week...

she is Persephone...

and she is bringing back

Spring and Summer

to the people..

after being forced to live in the cold underworld

She looks sweet but she is a savvy feminist..
you will see as she progresses..

I am working from a mixed media piece I created..
and of course she will change...
and morph into the goddess that she is..

I have a lot of decisions to make about her..

her halo.. her hair and I know she will have tattoos

but where and what I have yet to determine..

I will also decide about the flowers..

which are summer and which are spring..

"You may not control all the events that happen to you,

but you can decide not to be reduced by them"

Maya Angelou

As always thanks for stopping by

and taking the time to listen to

my thoughts..

Lakshmi

Ciao dear ones!!

I have been working on this painting of
Lakshmi
the Goddess
of
Prosperity and Abundance

for some time now and I have just

finished the 20 x 30 canvas..

She is not a traditional  Lakshmi

but my version of her...

Lakshmi, 20 x 30 on canvas

I used metallic paints to create gold stars
and the jewels she wears and a different paint for the skirt..

all of the Goddess paintings are filled with
symbolism..
I love her gold chain belt
and her silver hair..

If you are interested in her go to

my

Goddess gallerie

and take a peek

As always I am most grateful

to you all for stopping by the Lily Cottage..

Freya

Sorry! Sold!!

Ciao dear readers..
I have finished the first
of many Goddesses
that I intend

to paint..

I have been rereading
the Power of Myth..
a fabulous interview by
Bill Moyers with Joseph Campbell

and I was struck by the potency of our universal stories

Freya, 12 x 16 acrylic on canvas

I have always been intrigued by symbolist art..

so I have chosen to

create art that speaks to our universal stories..

all the tales of women, at once modern and antique..

I am going to start on the new painting soon..

Lakshmi..

to see Freya..
