March Art Journal Pages

We all remember
March..

It was the beginning of a
new way of

being..

and I translated it as
an interruption of

Flow..

March Art Journal Pages
Two page spread, March 2020 art journal pages

My pages changed several times..
I was simply never satisfied with them..
they just did not adequately describe my feelings

I am not at all sure it completely
visually
represents
the
incredible month that March was..
 for me.

"The True Artist, capable, practicing, skillful, maintains dialogue with his heart, meets things with his mind. The true artist draws out all from his heart."

Hafiz

Art Journal Pages

Right
 now...

all we can really do is find a way to
to redirect the flow..
of our attention...
our love,
our creativity
and channel it
into things that make us feel better...
that bring pleasure...
and placing our attention
on those things,
will create at least a happy
NOW
moment..

Ingredients: Collage and Decollage, acrylic paint, mono prints on tracing paper.

October Art Journal Pages

October is the month..
of magic..

Change is all around us...

sometimes radical..
sometimes subtle..
but there is no escaping the fact that change is in the
air..

and my pages, dear reader are about changes..
and accepting that nothing stays the same...

I think that the more we are open to change,
the happier we are..

The crow represents magic to me..
and the ability to call forth transformation that is beneficial..
and join in the songs of nature...

Ingredients: Gesso, tissue papers, monoprints, antique papers, acrylic paint, transparency, pencil.

This week ...
I am cleaning up the studio
and painting pages in my travel journal..

and I will have one more quick post for you before we leave..

You can always catch up with me on
Instagram
Facebook
and
YT

Ciao, Ciao!

Stamp Stories, Mixed Media on Paper

I have to admit,
I was never a big fan of stamps..
the ubiquitous flag..
really did nothing for me..
or old dead guys..

it was only when I saw foreign stamps that
I began to pay attention..

walking ladies..
flowers..

and intricate design
fascinated me..

at first I blacked out the flags and dead guys with black paint..
and used them as small square elements in my design..
which I still quite like to do..

but as the images became more interesting,
I realized that they held meaning and stories..

designed by artists..
to commemorate events..
sent by lovers..
or dear friends..
wanting to connect..

bringing glad tidings and heart wrenching sorrow..
who could resist such tiny symbols of connection?

every stamp tells a story..

in fact each one carries DNA
and that is enough to get you thinking..

so my mind was spinning as I worked on these
last January for
the Summer issue of
Sew Somerset..

and if you have not had
a chance to see
it or buy..

please check it out..

as always, I am so delighted you stopped by
the sweet life..
I will be back soon.. as I am busy in the studio..
and will have much to share..

Ciao, ciao!

May Art Journal Pages and a Vacation

May was an amazing month...
I have to admit it
rushed by in a bit of a blur..

I was working to finish my collection..
get packed and finish deadlines..
so I was very focused on
the show..

but looking back on the month,
I see that I grew immensely
spiritually...
as I was putting the finishing touches on
the show and my work..

going home
was amazing..
it has changed considerably
in the last four years..

the town itself is quite different..

but the friends that I have made
that are so close as to be family...

are still the same..

so my pages are layered..
and I have painted them
over and over..

worked almost as laboriously
as I did on my Notebook pieces..

Who says you can't go back home?
my pages reveal the blue sky breaking through..
and the world flowering despite
trauma and tragedy..

both personally and universally..

I believe...

Ingredients: Collage, decollage, paper ephemera, acrylic paint, gesso, pencil,

so dear readers..

it is summer,
and I will be taking a break
to visit with family..

When I return I will film a new YouTube segment
on My Flower Collages,
and I will hopefully ..
have some amazing
Caribbean Blues
for you to see..

thank you all for your kind support..
your uplifting comments..
and understanding..

I am so very grateful..
