June Art Journal Pages

Ciao, gentle readers..

Let me start by saying that my blog has always been
a non political site..

strictly about my art work ...
it was originally written as an online
diary of what was taking place in my studio...

That is not going to change today..

but
I am going to explain a bit about what my
June pages revealed..
and to do that,
I must talk about what is happening here in this country..

If you do not live here,
and you live abroad..
you may not realize that what is happening is nothing short of a
civil war..

Even if you live here, you might not realize it yet..

I do not say this lightly...
and though it looks different from the last one
it is a true war..
being waged within both parties..
and in homes and families all across this land..

The very fabric of this nation is being torn apart..

as I am an antique artist,
I have history to remember and not since
The Viet Nam War and Watergate
has the country been so divided...

We are facing grave issues and moral challenges...

and my pages reflect all of that..

since I am an artist of a certain age, I can say this,
that love and beauty always win..
that truth and justice will rule the day,

Though I believe this completely..
I still find myself ripping back the darkness to try to reveal the

heart...

Ingredients: Mono print on tracing paper, antique book pages, acrylic paint, colored pencil.

We will soon be on vacation so...

Next week I will be back on Wednesday
with my YT post
on Transfers..

Thank you always
for your kindness and for reading this little blog..
I so gratefully appreciate it..

Ciao, ciao!

Mixed Media Excavation Series

What I find so luxurious about working
with
mixed media
is the opportunity to play...
bend rules and just experiment...

Work in Progress, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media

last month I had a little break through in my
Art Journaling pages..
which you can see
right here..

As If, Excavations Series, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media

I was so fascinated that I kept working
on small scraps of mixed media papers.. 8 x 8 and
this one above is only 5 x 7
titled, As If...

My Excavations Series
is about revealing the hidden layers..

Detail from As If, Caterina Giglio, Mixed media

in relationship..
those closest to you..
the ones you struggle with..

I know you understand dear reader...

Squared Off, Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media, 8 x 8

sometimes
they leave you ragged..
unruly..

I am thinking that I will mount these on boards and that will
allow me to play on paper
until I feel like mounting them..

Once mounted I can sand and paint to edit, but the composition will
remain the same..

I am working with my mono prints and antique book pages,
and it has given me the textural feel that I wanted
to convey..
and I love the layers and textures...

and my intention is to work larger..

You Read About It In Books,  Caterina Giglio, Mixed Media, 8 x 8

In the studio this week
I will begin filming my new video on
the creation of my new travel journal..
from my Antique photo album..

and I hope to find time to get back to my water painting..

since I have some new portraits in mind..
and I am lusting over the space the large piece occupies..

also submissions are in the works..

and I just found out that my Sew Somerset Article and art is being delayed from
June
until
December...
so
gentle reader...
 we will just have to
wait..

Ciao, Ciao!!
