the lily girl is writing her annual love letter to herself...

I am always so delighted to be published in

a Stampington publication...

I think I lost track at 20 publications...

and although it is always wonderful to see my work 

in print...

the reason I continue to submit my work is to 

 inspire others to be creative, 

to explore mixed media...

and appreciate art...

 I believe that

people are happiest when

they are creative...

and everyone can create...

because life is art...

and although I have stopped teaching classes...

I can continue to hopefully inspire others

thru these publications...

as I always say

since I have decided to stuff my shop

italian beauties

often I think

that art is really about the

details...

my 

Italian Beauties 

have returned home

and 

I have just loaded them

in my 

Dolce Shop

so I have shot the details

to precede the pieces...

each piece is 8 x 81/2 

they are transfers from antique post cards on muslin

with water color...

the paper ephemera includes: hand painted papers, wrapping papers, old Italian currency, book pages, and sheet music

each piece is stitched by hand on Khadi paper and 

backed with fine sketch paper

the cloth remnants are from 

old pillow cases, an antique wedding veil..

and vintage ribbon...

 the stitched strips which are hopefully reminiscent 

of columns

are the end pieces from my paper cutter...

they are named...

I Think I'll Disappear Now

a year ago this May,

my blog was a new baby in my life...

and things were going very well...

and then I was contacted by my SIL who

informed me that my brother had

died..

he had shot himself in the heart...

now...

gentle readers...

please do not think that this post is about that,

because it isn't

it is about the paintings

that I have done as a way of healing

the piece above was painted last May...

I just naturally went into the studio and

gessoed a canvas and began to paint...

from my heart...

and then...

when I returned from

Art Fest

I was just on fire with ideas...

but I kept going back to

a canvas that I had been toying with

for over a year...

I finally finished it the other day

and realized that it was in response to my

brother's death

and the anniversary of it, in May...

isn't it amazing how the psyche

will undertake healing

whether we are

completely conscious of it or not?
