My Paris Travel Journal

If you saw my video..
then you know that this is what my new travel journal looked like
when we finished filming..
and if you did not see my YT video,
just scroll down to the last post to view it...

Antique Travel Journal, Caterina Giglio, photo by Don Digison

I was not pleased with the green striped ribbon..
which I thought was black..
but on closer inspection was green..
and so I decided to settle for white and
I have stitched it all together so that it is easy to secure..

and while there will be lots of color going on
inside of the journal,

I wanted to keep the front and embellishments
black and white...

I finished the mylar pocket
and added a sticker..

and I began to stuff it with antique ephemera ..
a map of Paris..

I also added a parchment envelope near the back of the journal
above...

which you can see through the window of the old album pages..
the pages will eventually be covered in paper and glued together
once we return home and print photos...

and I added tracing paper as a page to the inside front and back..

and I love being able to see the embossed album cover
through the tissue paper..
don't you?

and I did manage to find a little charm or two to enhance the dangling strings
of waxed linen..
our last stop will be Nassau..
so it seemed fitting..

My art journal pages are late..
gentle reader,
but I know you understand how you just become
so engrossed in a project and you want to see it end..

methinks that will take some time with this one..

Ciao, Ciao!!

Inside the Antique Travel Journal

I love a chubby journal..

and my tiny antique journal is simply
overflowing with tickets,
and memorabilia

the pockets are stuffed...

and may have to be reinforced...

but overall, it took a lot of abuse and held up well....

There are several pieces that I won't be showing you..

alas, since I always  journal write

Grey Etchings on Glass, mixed media, Caterina Giglio

and create a diary of our travels...

but you can see that the antique photo album
worked out well...

We adored France as you know..

and were fortunate to visit the
which is just down the street from
Monet's Garden

Rainy cool and wet weather... watercolor, Caterina Giglio

it was stunning to see Degas's work up close
as well as Monet's...

well, as close as they will let me... LOL

and since it was May day,
Mr. La Dolce Vita, bought me a
bouquet of Lily of the Valley..
which I immediately pressed ... of course..

and I still have photos from London to
share with you...
especially the London Eye, which I must brag
that I endured quite well..

I suppose it is always a jolly fine day for enjoying
Fish and Chips...

and in case you missed
the post
that explains how I transformed this
crumbling antique photo album into
a modern travel journal

you can go

Journal pages will be served next..
so please stay tuned..

ciao, ciao!
