packing up... again

no not the house...
my work...
to send
to my gallery

I just got the pieces back from
for the
Portfolio/ Interview that they did
in the Sept./Oct. issue

and I debated about framing the paper pieces or leaving them
raw and I decided to offer them
frameless this time and see how they are received...

small Italian collage pieces and mosaic in the bottom left corner and above

so I put them all in sleeves and finished them off with washi tape

and the cradled boards were all fitted with hangers
and labeled on the back of the boards

close up of La Petite Illustration

I love the neat stack and piles of work...
all neatly packaged
and bubbled carefully..

close up of Strolling Paris 8 x 8 cradled board

we don't usually show off the business side of art...
but it is all part of the job...

and I noticed that I now need new business cards!
because my email addy has changed!
fortunately I was down to the last of them..

the show is
Oct 25 and 26
in Fort Collins

Les Jardins Des Amants

Friday I will be back with
photos of all the work and
details about the show...

I love the close-ups. They truly bring your art to life AND show so many details of your art.

I agree the business side of art is what keeps TRUE artists going. That may be why I've never tried to sell mine.

I want to know your secret of how you keep the tiles in your mosaics so straight and perfect. I can get them straight, level, and even in one direction, but never in both.

Good luck with your show, dear friend. I know you don't need it, but wanted to say it, anyway.

I wrote a long message, then encountered a "google" service error. Now I don't even remember what I wrote.

I love the detail shots. They show your art up close. I learn so much from those close-ups and they inspire me.

The business end of any business is what separates real artists from those of us who dabble. That takes a true commitment of time and energy. Attention to detail, even at that level is what sets you apart.

One question I had was about the tiles in your mosaics. What is your secret for getting the tiles so straight and even? I can get them evenly spaced and straight in one direction, but not in both.

Good luck with the sale, dear friend. I know you don't need it, but I wanted to say it, anyway.

Best wishes as your precious pieces travel to their destination. I, too, enjoy the packaging up and sending out. It's like watching birds leave a nest :)

Hi E!
I think you are right about the business side of art, not everyone wants to deal with the deadlines, and the sheer work of it on top of the constant need for new ideas.
My mosaics are not straight!! I do use a paper cutter, but due to the collage, they never come out straight. I think that is why we call it fine art, because you don't need to have straight lines!! LOL!
Thanks for the good wishes on the show, I won't be able to attend so we will see how it goes.. xx
