Mixed Media Scrap Packs and Travel Journal

Well dear readers,
we are back from our holiday..
enjoying the seven seas...

and I arrived to find all the
little inspiration kits
and scrap packs
had sold out!

Lovely news..
I must say..

so now I will have to
get to work,
hand dying lace and fabric
and scouring through my boxes and bins
for lovely bits
to send back to
EsScentuals..

We are filming this Friday..
so I will be making a new video...
giving you a traipse
through
the journal
and sharing my techniques..
and also giving some tips about
putting together a journal
on the fly..

the trip was a bit of a surprise
and so I used a journal that I had made from an
old book..

cannot wait to share it with you
gentle readers and viewers!

Transforming an Antique Album into a Travel Journal

Ciao dearhearts!
We finally finished this Vlog post..
 filming over several days..
because you just cannot rush creativity..

There were lots of choices to make and those take time..
But I am very pleased that I have my travel journal finished,
and I can take my time working on the rest of the finishing details..

If you have an old photo album or old book,
I hope you try the technique..

Have a wonderful weekend dear viewers..

Ciao, Ciao!!

The Perfect Travel Journal

Upcycling an antique
photo album
into a travel journal,
takes some thought..

I have thrown things together before and I had
a modicum of success..
but in this first part of my new travel journal
adventure ..
I muse about what I liked and did not like about my past journals...

So..
I will be gutting the journal on the next video..
and creating pages, pockets and stitching the whole thing together..

It will take some time..
and we will shoot it as I work on it..
so it could take some time..

thanks always
for watching
and I thank you in advance for your
kind comments..

I so appreciate you all..

Happy Weekend,
gentle viewers!!

Handmade Journal with Tyvek Cover

Ciao, dearhearts...

I hope you enjoy this little video on my Tyvek covered journal..
I wanted to create something that
had a yummy leather look..

and I think I found it..

Let me know what you think..

The only thing I did not share is how to embellish the cover..
but since everyone will be doing something different..
I am sure you will create the perfect collage
for your personal journal...

if you have any questions, you know I will
be more than happy to answer them..

Have a gorgeous weekend
my gentle viewers..

Inside the Travel Journal

Years ago
I was fortunate enough
to find a guide book of Europe
written in the 1930's
so I used the antique pages in my
travel journal of course..

I loved the old maps and the notes
the previous owner had made..
it was charming..
so I used papers to obscure writing

which is most effective..
and attractive...

The Trevi fountain was a favorite spot..

above ...
you can see one of my photos of the Trevi fountain
I left space in my journal for
my personal photos and
printed them as I arrived home..

I found wonderful wrapping papers in
Florence and used them liberally ...

St. Peter's Square and the Basilica sketch I made of the floor plan...

Florence was wet rainy and cold,
and so beautiful...

we were there for a very few

precious hours
and it was torture
to leave without seeing...

some of the sights that I had wanted and dreamed of
as a child..

Aix -En-Provence
was amazing and we enjoyed a sunny
but chilly stay there..
tiny shops and wonderful food at the
farmer's market in the square..

Marisa was our tour guide in
Barcelona
and she was an Art Historian
so I really enjoyed the
tour
of the
Picasso Museum
and I glued half the brochure to the page and folded it back to
cover my writing...

with so many tickets, train stubs
and evidence of travel I added several
pockets to hold all the bits and pieces...

We went to Mallorca
from Barcelona
and I will have travel photos for you..

at sea a day

and then we stopped in the
Canary Islands..

and finally we were at sea..

we had smooth sailing home and it
was a beautiful trip..

and believe it or not, but I still have work to do
in my journal...

I poked this quote in the back
of my journal..

Travel is more than the seeing of sights, it is a change that goes on,
deep and permanent in the ideas of living.
Miriam Beard

For me, it was certainly that..
permanent changes..
I found out why I am the way I am..
and I really loved what I found..
