I love mailing my art to
it takes months for it to come back to me
and when it does..
it is like greeting an old friend..

Mixed media detail on paper, Caterina Giglio |
I just sent in my summer submission
think fabric quilts, tiny flowers and collage on fabric
warm and cheery...
harder to do when the weather is chill..
even here in the sunshine state...

Stitching up the Sky, 6 x 6 on 9 x 12 watercolor paper |
there is something so satisfying about ripping up old papers...
repurposing them...
and giving them a home...

Are the Stars Out Tonight? Caterina Giglio, Mixed media on paper 6 x 6 |
taking something mundane
and meant for a trash heap
and creating a piece of art with with it...

Ruffled Edges, Caterina Giglio, 6 x 6 on 9 x 12 watercolor paper |
it elevates it and all the different pieces of paper
sing together in completely new song...

Detail of Ruffled Edges, Caterina Giglio |
inside the layers are songs and poems and stories
of friendship and love
of loss and longing...
betrayal and darkness...

Solstice Stars, Caterina Giglio |
but above all there is
always the
light
shining down...

Stunning pieces from winter art. I always appreciate what you make and elevating scraps to the cover of Sew Somerset is magical. Your hand work is simply amazing. If only my fingers could grip a needle!
I look forward to whatever changes you make this year, and will follow you anywhere you want to go.
I assure you, summer art sounds a whole lot better coming from the Sunshine State than this winter wasteland I live in. As I told my friend Scott today, those wind chills (think -11F) will curl your toes.
Lovely layers and threads all woven so artistically and beautifully dear Cat full of depth and mystery!

The stitching really adds something to those lovely collages. Gorgeous!
the torn papers are gorgeous, but it's the stitching that has my heart. LOVE that! and you've done it to non-perfect perfection. : )

Receiving any kind of mail would be a wonderful surprise for me. :) Your collage work is lovely. Wishing you a fabulous Friday. Tammy
you're a master of your craft. beautiful
Great to be on the cover... love these pieces.
Oh Cat, you know I love these beautiful art creations. Also love the,- using old papers and remnants of this and that, together with threads, and gold, as here.
No stars to see this early evening...too grey and rainy!!
Hugs from Dorthe
Nice to have them back I bet. Lovely work. Sweet stars shining down. xox
Oh E, summer art IS easier to dream up here... and I remember having lived in very cold places... I know this another brutal winter... we had ice and snow in Jacksonville! yikes, just what we were trying to get away from!! happy that you love my zigs and zags in direction, such a blessing to have you, dear friend...
Patty, thank you, yes, mystery... of moments and relationships... very intriguing... graze! xoxo
Jo, stitches are like glue, aren't they? :)
mine too lynne, sometimes the papers just beg for them... in this case the pages were torn, it seemed natural to stitch them... thanks dear one.. xoxox
Gosh Tammy, I am sure you would like mail, never thought about that ... living abroad makes it harder... thanks for stopping by... xoxo
Thank you so much Maya! x
