january pages

last year
for my January pages,
I did a self portrait.. and I had no intention of doing
another selfie for this year...

but then I saw a posting on
Tumblr...

that I remembered from my younger years..
cough, cough, ahem..

much younger..

a Bob Dylan
photo below...
DIG YOURSELF

and since I always write
an annual love letter to myself for Valentines day
I thought ... why not... start early?
and ...
dig myself...

so here you have it...
last year I did the work using a mirror, and this year I worked from a photo that I took last year..
my journal below, resting in the chair in my studio...

ingredients: book pages, acrylic paint, pencil, colored pencils...

and many thanks for all your kind remarks about my
birthday...
it was the loveliest ... so far!
but I say that every year!!

life is so good..

and thank you for stopping by...
I will be out to visit soon..

xo

p. s. thanks Bob, for reminding me...

Hi Cat! I've missed quite a few posts, so I hope you don't mind if I glump my comments all together into one here... First, I hope your birthday was extraordinarily happy, and I'm quite impressed by your self-portrait- some thing I've never had the guts to try. Maybe I'll try that love letter to myself thing this year; boy, will my self be surprised!
It's colder here in Kentucky then in VA, and I must say I'm looking forward to ANYTHING blooming... well, someday...

I'm in love with your water abstracts- something I've always wanted to do. 'Waterside-Michigan' is especially beautiful! I would be most interested to see how you accomodate book pages with those!

Aaaaah! Can't wait to see the book! It looks amazing, and I'm sure your SIL will be deeply touched.

Best always, my dear friend! xo

Hey Sharmon, so happy that you stopped by... the new water studies are my current obsession and working on the book pages with water thingy... Yes the book is very sweet... going to work on a few for the shop, but more abstract in nature...
Sending you the very best back.. and keep warm. xo

Your selfie is as lovely and unique as you, dear friend. I always admire your art, but this is stunning. I hope this AND your Valentine to yourself both become annual events for us to see and appreciate.
