feb pages

if you have been following my blog
for a while..
then you know that art journaling is
an important part of my life...
I write about what is going on each month..

and then i obscure my writing with
my art...

each feb I write myself a love letter
I concentrate on the good things I am and I do...
I think that most of our issues come
from our lack of self worth...
so I use valentines day
to remind myself that it all begins with
self love...

I can't love another
if I don't love myself...
it would not be love... but admiration..

this year my commitment has been even
stronger

I am changing the way I feel about myself completely...
my body, my self, my life, my art...

I chose the winter scenes to mirror the reflection that is happening within me

winter represents an incubation period

to me, it is a time to cozy up
and think about what I want to create and
what I choose to manifest for the year...

ingredients: gesso, transfers from my personal photos, paper ephemera, cloth, khadi paper, pencil, pen, acrylic paint, water soluble crayons.

I am working on some larger pieces...
on paper 22 x 30
so don't have much to show right now
but I will be back soon with stitches and marks
to show you...
working with ink..

as always, thanks for stopping by..
grazie!

Simply gorgeous journal pages. Your self-evaluation seems to have hit just the right spot and February was the perfect month to show it.

I fell in love with the winter photos. Much like what I'm seeing from my windows, these practically black and white images speak to a similar landscape, although I confess that yours is much prettier than mine.

Welcome to March.

This looks beautiful. Your art always makes perfect sense, and I mean that in the best way ( some artists don't want their art to make sense, which is fine ) What you create is visually beautiful, the thoughts behind what you create are equally as beautiful. Always inspiring. I will be in touch re/ mag, happy to purchase via paypal...thank you so much. xx

What a cool way to keep your writing intact without publicizing it! As a writer, I've always struggled with art journaling - love what you've done! And, congrats on your latest publication - you go girl!

Amazing journal work - full of spirit and depth. Winter is indeed a time to reflect and go inward. For us in California Spring has arrived early and I am embracing it fully. Like you, I am very influenced by the seasons and the turning of the wheel in my art, thoughts and creations.
Best to you Caterina!

i am so in love with all that you've said here, and your pages. i do the same: i write in my art journal and obscure my words with paint, paper, ink and objects. it's such a healing and growing experience... and a good time for release. i love the idea of love letters to self and looking at ourselves with new eyes and expectations. you have lifted me today, and i thank you!! xx

It is amazing that since I wrote my tiny post about self worth, every artist I am kindred with has something similar going on....I can relate, and completely understand, Your artwork here is truly amazing, it gives me chills, and I love the way you are working through your thoughts. These images here will stay with me, thy are so beautiful.

You're oh so right Caterina, we have to be kind and love ourselves before we can love others.
A journal is a great way to keep track of how we're doing.
I love those winter images, sparse and empty waiting for Spring to bring luscious colour!
A great time to take stock as you say.

Sending you some summer sunbeams from my corner of the world!
and a Kiwi hug too

Oh my gosh...how did I miss this! These pages are wonderful, and your drawings so beautiful! The hand is wonderful...I always thought a hand looked difficult to draw. It reminded me of the sketch books I now have that belonged to my father in law where he too did some sketches of hands. :-)
