feather in the sand

wherever you are dear reader...
I hope it is not as hot as it has been here...
we have been frying in this unbelievable heat wave...
and so Mr. LDV and I decided
to journey
up north and take in a beach day
on Sunday

don't be surprised if we move up here...
a charming town
and right about now, I would not mind 3-4 feet of snow..
not uncommon here with the lake effect

the beach was crowded..

but not packed...

it was just so nice to be close to such a large lake
wading in the crystal cool...
fresh water

with trees to provide much needed shade...

sigh..
so peaceful...
relaxing...
connecting to all that is...
beach therapy... does the soul good...

just a reminder...
my giveaway ends this thursday
to enter to win a quilt

as always, thanks for coming by
and enjoying the beach with me

C4N!

What a beautiful place... I would love to be someplace cooler than it is here, but Dear Hubby moved here to get away from the cold winters... So I guess that's out of the question. Plus... being a native Floridian, I'm not sure I would know how to handle all that snow. Lately I've been showing interest in the Pacific NW... Rain, I can handle! Stay cool!

a pleasure being at the beach with you. it's been sooooooo hot, we just pretty much stay in....happy to have tall trees and AC, of course, for our house. but the lake only 45 miles from us, just don't want to be out in this quite yet. pentwater is such a sweet town, and not crazy commercial and just enough north to make a bit of a difference. love your photos. and what a great plan.
i too look forward to SNOW!! ha.......and seeing you before it does any of that.
sad that almost half of our country is experiencing drought.
be cool. (well, we know you are that!) x0

Absolutely beautiful. I love the beach and ocean. Glad you found respite from the severe heat. We too were on a nature vacation that you can see on my blog today and yesterday. Perhaps my photos will cool you off even further. ;-)

Hi Cat.
I love the looks of that clear, cool water. I was away for 9 days getting some much needed R&R. Wasn't near any water, but would love to be. We left the heat and returned to the heat. What a dreadful hot summer it has been. I think a lot of people are looking forward to the Fall weather. And snow? Bring it on ~ I love it!!
Your photos are wonderful. I can almost feel the coolness of that beautiful clear water. I'm glad you enjoyed your time at the Lake. It looks like a sweet comfortable place.

Beautiful post. Evocative, soothing... almost like being there on the beach with you. It has been very hot here in Colorado too -- thanks for the sweet break.

Oh, lady- I fear I am just as hot as you and not in a good way! I'm in G.R., MI and I can not believe how brown my state is!!! My hubby took the girls to PJ Hoffmaster park this last weekend to give me a break from them while I painted their room. I wasn't the least bit sad not to be going until I saw your pictures- which are beautiful! Good to see your post- I have to get back to looking up rain dances on the internet....

And to think I'm whining about what a cool and grey summer it's been here, I probably am more comfortable that sweltering.
Woke up to 49 degrees and rain yesterday and hopefully will be experiencing the happy medium of ideal summer weather when I go to Maine in a couple of weeks.
The lake looks lovely and glad you were able to get away.

Your daytime temperatures are our night time temperatures (it's 11 pm and 99 degrees out there right now ... and humid). We've had a couple of days this week where it was at least 122 - Lord knows what the heat index is since we don't have grass and trees to absorb some of that heat. It just bounces off all the sand and concrete that surrounds us. The Pentwater beach looks lovely -- I'm sure everyone is flocking to all the beach areas. No one here dares to be out much during the day. Have a great rest of the week. Tammy
