sew sacred

well... gentle readers,
on friday I walked to the post
box
and in the box, I found not one
comp issue of Sew Somerset,
but 2!
I knew that I would soon be receiving my issue...but
I couldn't figure out the double mystery, because I knew that
they were publishing my article
Sacred Hearts
and there was no mention
of the shrine I sent along
Wish You Were Here

By Hand
fabric stitched heart and tin

the article above...
and below the second heart tin that I submitted...

if you remember, I began to stitch hearts right after my brother
shot himself in the heart. it was my way of healing such
a violent tragedy in my own heart

as I flipped thru the magazine
the answer to
my question was revealed, they had published the
shrine in the gallery!
wonderful!!

a nice surprise...
because this shrine was so very heartfelt...
a feeling of bittersweet abandonment...

so I was quite pleased and the new Editor, Beth Livesay did a great job
and has a darling blog, here.

and then...
I was thrilled to learn that my blogging friend
Pilar Pollock was in the same
issue with her article
Nuestros Milagros
which I think is brilliant below..
she has reinterpreted the milagro in cloth
and
I think her work is just stunning
her blog is Pip Notes and you can go here to see more of her work.

and then... my friend, Carole Brungar had a piece published in
the gallery section as well and I had to show you her piece
below, so romantic and beautiful
to go to her blog go here.

and all of that and more
in this one little magazine!

whew!!
such a lot going on!!
I trust you are having a lovely Memorial Day...
for me it has been a weekend in the garden and the studio...
tomorrow at Bell'Antico
we are having Tea in the studio, so do stop
by...
ciao!

Congratulations not just once, but twice. It's nice to see your lovely art get the recognition it (and you) deserves. Looks like there are some pretty interesting techniques in the heart article, too. As always, it's so sweet of you to mention others' art. You are not only talented, but so sharing as well.

See you for Tuesday Tea tomorrow.

So much publishing going on- it makes my head spin!

I have been stalking Carole's blog to see her published stitched piece and you scooped her!

The only thing better than gettng a new Somerset Studio magazine in the mail is seeing your own art within its pages!

Caterina, congratulations for your well deserved success.
My grandmother told my mother, who told me
"What you put into the lives of others, comes back into your own" - and I think that is so true for you. You are very warm and generous with your time and talent, very encouraging to your friends and fellow artists. You certainly deserve to be published two times in that magazine, your work on hearts (and birds too, I love those ) is gorgeous.

I have just got my issue, and as I was flipping through your tin heart caught my eye, and then I found your blog! I shall enjoy reading the article in bed later. I turned to textiles when my son was killed in a car accident. I think creating is a great healer.

Your work is stunning. I love pieces of art where the heart and soul are the main components. I think that Imagination is just not enough to send the messages to the world (it can play only the support role in creation whereas the heart and Soul are the main actors).
Congratulations on being published.
