Sanibel Inspiration

What a difference a beach day makes..

even the worst day at the beach
is a welcome respite..

last week we were headed for
Sanibel Island..

and
the weather was lovely...
a bit breezy as usual, but gorgeous...

it was a decent walk thru the park
and over a bridge...

across the
Mangroves...

lots of trees..
gorgeous forest..

and sea grapes..

and then the
beach appears...

"The tides are in our veins."
Robinson Jeffers

and the sun sparkles..

of course the first thing you have
to do is drop all the luggage...
beach chairs and umbrella...
cooler and towels...

"Every time we walk along a beach some ancient urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes and garments or scavenging among seaweed and whitened timbers like the homesick refugees of a long war."
Loren Eiseley

and go down to the water...

putting feet in water..
jamming toes in sand..

and searching for shells...

the best shells are
UNDER

the sea weed of course...

That magical pull of the sea,

doesn't every one feel it..?
it is as if....

a long lost love is
whispering your name..

take off your shoes ..
 come be with me...

Sanibel is right up there as one of our favorite beaches.
We could not believe the enormous amounts of gorgeous seashells and found ourselves doing the Sanibel Stoop ;-)
Glad you had a nice getaway Cat...shows on your smiling face.
Happy May Days to you oxo

What an incredible post. The beauty of the beach, the shells, and even the seaweed made me homesick for the west coast. Such beauty in Sanibel is possibly one of the rare reasons I might return to FL.

Your photos and lovely comments made me believe how close to paradise this could actually be.

oh lovely! I do love to walk by the beach but sadly ours is littered with everyone's trash and that's quite depressing. I did find lots of lovey shells last time I was there. Have a great day.

Such a sweet and lovely photo of you, Cat, and the beach oh has wonders I will never see, at my shore, here. Beautiful shells, and white seaweed, is not for me to find, on my beach, but then something other kinds of beauty.
We lived 30 years close to the sea, meaning walking to the end of the garden, and there it is....now soon we are to move to the city, but still very close to the sea, ..living on an island can feel very "small" in many ways, but there are always the gorgeous sea, around you !
Hugs, dear friend.

Tammy, what a shame your beach is a litter box, I hope you find a beach where you can enjoy the beauty... thanks for stopping by, xoxo

Dorthe, are you happy about the move? and I understand what you said about beaches, they are not at all alike, some have no shells at all... we have no drift wood... lovely how different that all are!! sending you big hugs my friend! xxxxxx

The beach there looks lovely... I can so identify with the feeling you describe, the pull of the ocean... it's always there. We hadn't been to the ocean for a long time, so we just had to take a Florida vacation this year. You look so relaxed and happy... going to the ocean makes me feel exactly that way...

I feel the pull... but I do know a number of people who DON"T can you imagine? I can't. Beautiful textures and patterns there.
