Ripped and Torn Paper Collage

for those of you
who are not artists...
it might be interesting to know
that we artists sometimes
feel stuck...

although I can never say that I have artist's block...
I have too many ideas for that...
and my mind is constantly in a whirl...

Detail of Advent of Spring, Paper Collage, Caterina Giglio

but there are times when I push...
when I think I know best about what I want to create...
and when I feel that the work that I am doing is just not...
turning out the way I intended it too...

and that is when it dawns on me...

that I am stuck in the chaos....

and if I simply release control...

Larger Detail of Advent of Spring, ripped and torn paper collage, Caterina Giglio

it will all ...

come together perfectly...

And.. perhaps..

lead to something that is exactly
what I what it to be...

Just a note, I have changes going on in the shop

check it out..

Your piece is gorgeous Cat! I am loving the edges...(I seem to always lose my torn texture to over glueing!) the blues are perfect for this time of year. Glad you were able to make room for a breakthrough!

Beautiful piece, Cat, and you are so right - releasing control is key....

hubo dos resultados ... el primero es mi nueva pieza , la llegada de la primavera , y las segundas, que le mostrará pronto! ciao, bella !

Marie, I am guilty of that too, in part because I know that the gel medium will seal the acid in the paper and stop the deterioration, the new pieces have more texture...

I knew I would be preaching to my artist choir, Sharmon, but several readers have reminded me that they are not artists and want to understand the process... xo

I often feel overwhelmed when I try something and it doesn't turn out the way I planned or expected it. However, I don't find that calm you get when things come together perfectly. You have the true eye of an artist. Advent of Spring is simply gorgeous.

Your art piece is so beautiful -love the add of the leaves, dear Cat,- and your winter tones of grey-black-white and a little blueish!!
And what a wonderful amount of both torn and not yet torn pages, in all kinds of yumminess !!
Hugs to you dear friend.
