a pinch of sunshine

it has been ages
since I took my camera with me..
normally it lives in my bag..

but let's face it...
we have all had quite enough of grey..

so when the sun finally peaked through..
and sent a pinch our way..
we headed to the beach..

you can still tell
that it was chilly...

note the LACK of people...
this is Virgina Beach and it will be packed in a month

Mr. LDV took these photos
because I cannot shoot pics when I am shaking..
from the chilly wind...

but I was grateful for a little sunshine...

and the beauty of the water
which restores my sense of peace and balance...

all things are made right by listening to the sound of the waves

and when we got home,
the sun was enjoyed
by the geese...

and the birds... who all turned to watch the glorious sunset...

and speaking of sunsets...
some of you might remember my noble
studio dog...
Dharma...

he passed away quietly
from old age
on Saturday evening...

he was a good boy, faithful and sweet
and a big supporter of my art work...
he wagged his tail over everything I created...
I shall miss him

dreadfully...

Beautiful post! So sorry to read about Dharma... I have 3 studio dogs who are always quite enamoured by my most feeble attempts. Good thing the studio cat keeps things in perspective.

Your photos are as wonderful as your art, my heart breaks for you at your loss, it's immense...but 3 years after the death of my German Sheppard I had a dream I was in an old apt building where my dad died, and suddenly I missed my dog so fiercely and the number 6 lit up where my dad's apt was, and came down and the door opened and there was my Benny his tail wagging like crazy communicating to me that he was so happy and not to worry and I read his thoughts, and then he went back in the elevator the door closed and it disappeared, so I know you will see your dog almost a puppy in happiness...I promise, and deepest sympathy for your pain, I understand

Cat, your shots are beautiful.
I have been to the beaches of Virginia Beach many times as used to live in Hampton.

I am truly sorry about your loss of Dharma, treasure the memories, they leave a footprint on our hearts.

My heart goes out to you as I sit and shed tears of pain at your loss. I rue the day when my beloved Bleubeard passes away, too. So of course, I know your pain and sorrow.

It was good that you were able to get away, even though it was cold. I can understand why you would turn the camera over to Mr. LDV. I took some photos this morning where I was shaking so hard in my own home that most of the pictures didn't turn out well at all. These are truly stunning, though.

Kate! Your comment made me laugh out loud.. And that is why I would never have a kitty in the studio!! My husband says we can only have one "Cat" in the house anyway!!

Oh dear Cat, sending much love and empathy to you... so sorry to hear about Dharma. I thought that it would be easier, knowing that Pasha had lived a long, long life into a good old age, but its still a huge loss. Blessings to you.

Hi E, Yes, I know that you do think of the day when you have to say goodbye to Bleubeard, and I know how hard it will be for you... in many ways... he is after all a part of your blog... not just your sweet companion and a huge part of your life. I am sending you hugs at the very thought.. xx

Caterina Giglio said...

Hi Marilyn, thank you so much... so glad you liked the photos... we can all use the sunshine and the color green!!

Dear Valerianna, it is supposed to make it easier to know that they lived well and had long lives, but I am afraid that I am so selfish as to want them to last as long as I want to and I have to remember that that is not a part of their lives..
I was thinking of you when he passed and knew that you had just been through it too... gave me comfort to know I had an empathizer at RavenWood Forest... xo

oh sweet sweet Dharma will be waiting for you...a long time for us here on earth...just the blink of an eye to loved ones on the other side ♥

I forgot the color of the sand at Virginia Beach...fun how different the sand is everywhere you go...

glad you got to air out a bit and hearing that you have buds and green showing already...
well let's just say that is not yet happening here in Northern VA ;)

Greetings and (((hugs)))from snowy Chantilly

Enjoyed the photos, and sending peace to your heart. The sun, the warmth, it won't be long now. I have signs of spring, but then the cold flings back in... (figure the poor wind must keep coming south to warm up, too) ha!

Patience... :)

Caterina Giglio said...

Mansuetude, so nice to have you stop by the sweet life, thanks for the warm wishes... I know it was time for him to move on and I feel good about it... yes signs of spring ... the trees are budding but the wind is still do darn chilly!! that arctic breeze...
