July Art Journal Pages

It's a matter of the heart..
gentle reader..

I know I have shared with you
before

that
my family...

"A Matter of the Heart, Detail, Caterina Giglio

have heart issues..
and last month

we were on pins and needles..
waiting to hear..

 how my Auntie
was doing after her
heart surgery...

I was on
pins and needles..
literally and metaphorically..

Textile Art, "A Matter of the Heart" July Art Journal page, Caterina Giglio

so my documentation
was about this family issue..

Congestive Heart Disease

Writing under and over the page, wrapping paper and pen, Art Journal page, Caterina Giglio.

and in my pages,
I wanted to express

the frayed heart..

Detail from, "A Matter of the Heart" July Art Journal page, Caterina Giglio

being stitched back together..

Textile art, Caterina Giglio

They have done so much work on her..

but ..
it also illustrates

Detail from, "A Matter of the Heart" July Art Journal page, Caterina Giglio

the family heart,
my heart,
waiting to hear..
wondering how it is going..

Ripping the fabric,
washing it..
drying it,
and stitching it up..
ironing it..
stretching it..
pulling out threads..
was meditative ..
and soothing..

because art does heal..

Ingredients: acrylic paint, pencil, pen, wrapping papers, book pages, fabric, upholstery threads, lace, safety pins, cheese cloth.

even broken hearts..

I will say Ciao for now..

and I will be back here next Tuesday..
thanks always for following..

I'm deeply impressed with the heart that you pulled apart and stitched back together. It's a fabulous addition to your monthly journal pages and it took us along with you while we waited to learn about your aunt's heart condition. Well put, great words, great thoughts, and incredibly wonderful fiber art captured in journal form.

Hi Dr. E! So glad you liked the piece, it looked too christmasy after I shot it, but I am very happy with the stitched heart. She is much better and now we wait for the Catheterization when she is stronger.. x

Kim, thanks for stopping by!! I have not seen you much on FB, happy you like the heart, I am in love with it, the fabric really told the texture story better than collage.. x

Mary Ann, I adore the safety pins, I just used them to hold the pieces together and then I thought that they really wanted to live there!! LOL

A beautiful post. Glad I had a few spare minutes to visit. I prayer your Auntie is doing well. It's just hard to see our loved ones go thru the aging process. Thanks for sharing your wonderful spent time.

Also, I, like you am usually process oriented. The class was a push for me. The two teachers are friends and I that I love and wanted to support. I had so much fun pushing the boundaries of my disciplined life :)

Oh Cat, no one say it as beautiful as you, - the heart aches, and can break, I dearly hope your aunt will recover, and feel good, again.
If you ever show her this, she will feel so loved, and comforted by your amazing creation , and from your words, dear friend.
I love all you expressed into your frayed and fragile heart creation.
Hugs, Dorthe
