On My Work Table

As I leave for vacation...

are sketches of shells...
that I am enjoying working on...
using watercolor graphite, colored pencils and pencil...

"Photography is an immediate reaction, drawing is a meditation."
Henri Cartier-Bresson

and some collages that seem to be directly related
to the pages I worked for July...
as always, dear reader, I am fascinated by edges...
and layers...
by found pieces..
and the way they come together to form some new creation...

"Rapid-collage prevents any elevating movement toward a fixed goal. To be nowhere is to let oneself be."
Josh Goldberg

I have all of my lily drawings packed up..
and looking forward to spending time
with family...
eating good food, watching some Bocce ball, having great conversations..
and of course indulging in my one weakness...
some delicious wine...

Ciao for now..

I can't believe I missed your July journal pages. I saw the entry as I was about to leave a comment. The layers and layers of paper make for a wonderful collage and tell their own story. I can tell you are no longer lost, and looking forward to your trip and vacation. Will there be shells? Star fish? Or will you just concentrate on family and wine? Regardless, have a wonderful time!

A beautiful drawing which you make look so easy!
Layers and layers just like our lives - beautiful as we peek under the layers too.
Have a precious time with your family!

Drawing is indeed a meditation, which I need to get back to... I love your collage, the layers and abstract form - anther type of meditation, I think. Have fun with your family; I'm sure they will all be thrilled withe their beautiful lily paintings!
