I always made a trip to Taos and Santa Fe...
for me it was

in looking back at my photos, I realized that there were several that
I have never shared with you...
my love affair with New Mexico
began when I was just a child and my parents moved us from Michigan
to Scottsdale, Arizona...
we stopped on the way to visit my auntie who happened to be a nun in a Maryknoll convent and she also happened to be an
artist...
it made a huge impression on me to see her and listen to her passion about the land and the sky and what she was painting...

and as we drove through the enchanted land of New Mexico on our way to Arizona, I too fell in love with the land and the sky,
the architecture and the people...
it seemed to be a contagious spell that would last my whole life..
If you are an artist, I am sure you know that
the muse is a reference to Greek mythology; the muses were goddesses that inspired the creation of art..
for me, no single place or thing acts as a muse, but there are
several places that fill my creativity tank
and Taos is certainly one of them...
the beauty of the architecture and the churches are so inspiring...
the white against the brown stucco is so stunning...
and charm and whimsy
uplift the spirit and connect me with joy...
then there are the mountains...
so stunning

I have to tell you..
I have never had an artist block...
I simply show up to do the work and if my muse seems to be napping...
I play.......paint collage or experiment with no
expectation and suddenly the ideas flow....
I love to listen to the silent voice of my own work

to northern Michigan to visit family
and fill the creativity tank...
