the sound of the sunshine

ahhh the sunshine!

the minute we are above the grey clouds of Michigan
I am smiling because I remember that the sun is
ALWAYS
shinning above the clouds and I pack that
positive vibe
with me in my luggage back home...

the first thing I always think as I board a plane
is that it is still amazing to me that
those big old heavy planes...
loaded with all those carry-ons
and so many people can actually FLY...
and I am surprised that so many take it for granted
I still give thanks for that miracle...

if you travel in winter,
you know that there are delays...
but when we finally got to LA
it was a beautiful day and
we spent time in
Santa Monica...

so lovely...

tacos are better with a beach view...

we lived in CA many years ago...
and I missed the trees... so many and so different from
the hardwoods in my back yard...

we had a great time visiting family and friends
and I have lots more photos to share...

we journeyed to San Diego
and went up the coast to
Solvang and Buellton...
to wine country...

as I write this the weather is just the way
I left it in Michigan...
grey with continued grey scheduled...
but I know that the
sun
is still shinning
above the clouds
and it makes me

smile...

wOw to the trees, those twisted gnarly trees so much personality.

I also marvel when one of those babies takes off with all of us and out luggage ... then the view. Love to fly at night.

I always wonder how those great lumbering planes take off too...how someone even thought about flight for the masses!!! Some clever people out there.

Beautiful sunshine...lucky you. And those trees are amazing.

Thanks for sharing your travels and your positive attitude.

It has been a particularly gray winter here in northeast Pennsylvania, and just today I was California dreaming. How nice that you were able to get away for a little while. I look forward to the pictures!

Ah, looks wonderful! Brings back a lot of memories of "home" not that I lived in So. Cal, but over the many years of living in Vegas, there were lots of trips there. Have fun!

Love your travel photos...trees, beach and all. When I lived in the east I was amazed at the 'green' of trees.

Lovely photos of your winter vacation. I'm always amazed at the trees in CA and especially love the blooming jacaranda, (is that a tree or a bush?). Thanks for sharing.

My friend Joseph lives in Santa Monica. I see the Pier in the background. I always love going there, especially for the Carousel. Sounds like you had a fun trip at least. I'm delighted you took us along, because it reminds me of why I always loved California.
