studio vignettes

ciao, dear hearts...
I know I promised to return with
pics of my new journal and my Jan. spread, but
I felt inspired to clean up my studio instead...

and of course, I had to document the fact that is was
clean...
if for only a couple of days...

since I am sure you all understand how challenging the dance of
creative chaos can be...

we are constantly cleaning and creating
and it takes time to organize and
and straighten...
so when the mood strikes me
and usually it comes during the
frigid days of winter...

I surrender to it and begin to open paint
checking for dried up tubes...
sort thru images...
and ephemera and let go of things
I know I will never use...

It feels so good to get it all organized again...

it takes so much time

but I know that

when I am hard at work on a new collection...

I will be so happy when I can put my fingers on
those antique images
that I want...

my studio here in Michigan is very small...
a tiny bedroom...

so I have had to be very creative about
storage

and adding stations, flat working spaces...
and I finally got it all in...
now, if I could just find space for the easel...

I am leaving on my winter vacation
 soon
and I will make sure to bring my camera..

and
I may finish my January pages
before I leave...
we will see...

Oh ,yes, I can relate ! You create and then you tidy (well I have to before I can start again ) But it's a good feeling when you have a tidy, clean, organised space in which to create. I love the last photo of 2 of your beautiful journals, the fruits of your labour, so worth a few hours of tidying. They are the reward. Enjoy your winter vacation. xx

Great job on organizing. I agonize over tossing things out (I just may need them?) so I keep a box of almost trash...last stop before throwing out!
Have a great holiday!

There is a season for all things under heaven, even cleaning a studio.
Yours looks great. I particularly like your shrine space. I have one too that I am always adding to and subtracting stuff.
Hope you are going someplace warm!

Such a cosy and pretty room Caterina,
I love your use of big glasses for your Golden products and such, it takes so much less place like that, thank`s for that great idea :-)
Also love your Holy Corner....I have one myself!
Thankyou for the look- and a happy vacation, to you.
Hugs,Dorthe

inspiring, as usual....thank you. as i sit in the middle of stacks of treasures from my shelves, and 4 shopping bags of books on their way to new homes.
DECLUTTERING... letting go. giving things, and me, some breathing space.

breathe well as you journey, hopefully to sunny climes.

ciao, bella!

Your studio looks lovely Caterina. It is always a challenge finding enough space for all of our goodies but you did a nice job with displaying your supplies and keeping them at hand. I love it!

Hi Cat.
I envy your clean neat studio. Mine is such a mess it will take me weeks to get it back in order. One day at a time, I guess.
Your lovely package arrived safely and, of course, the art is much more beautiful than in the photos. I am SO very happy with it.
I look forward to seeing your future creations, Cat.

You just really cannot phathom how similar our studios are. I am flabbergasted! I love your phrase "creative chaos" - it's true isn't it? I wonder if there is a gene coded for us mixed media types? It would be so much simpler to be a 'uni-media artist' !!!

sometimes that step of tidying up and organizing jumpstarts my creative process - I find things I forgot about - look at things in a different way - remember long lost project ideas ..... and then going on a vacation - well that's a huge re-starter! I hope you have a grab time and come back re-energized and ready to create!!

I so wish I had even a tiny room, I work an unused dining room. I get it done, but organization is a big problem! Love what you have done! Have a blessed trip.

Must be the season - I just spent a week decluttering and reorganizing my space. I touched every scrap of paper, every embellishment, image, fiber - oh man, what a job! I sent a huge pile of stuff to the Goodwill and have a stack of paper for my grandaughter. Of course I know that next week I'll really NEED something I tossed!
We have some of the same decorations, but I need a shrine space and have just the stuff to set one up - thanks!

Looking great! How wonderful to find things visually. Unfortunately, I am working off my internal depth sounder at the moment, or maybe it's radar. Hoping to channel my clean queen soon....
