my poor camera has finally
died and I am ... learning to use
a new digi cam, I miss my old friend, it was such an easy
playmate..
but I know I will eventually get the hang of this one..
so, please understand that these are a bit darker, for some reason...
but I will figure it out soon and I appreciate your patience...
October was an interesting month...
as usual I covered the page by writing in pencil...
and then wrote on top of the pencil with a silver pen
the leaves are from my yard...
I embedded them in handmade paper and then stitched them to
the paper...
it was easy to do by soaking them in water
and when supple, I glued it down and covered it
with a thin handmade paper,
you could probably use tissue paper too...
Autumn is beautiful, even though it brings a sadness
as the trees and plants begin their long sleep...
"a wind has blown the rain away and blown the sky away and the trees stand. i too have known autumn for too long."
e.e. cummings
ingredients: gesso, acrylic paint, lumiere paint, twinkling H20's, colored pencil, pencil, handmade paper, leaves, thread, Sharpie pen
I will be back soon
dear readers
to show you the new issue of
Artful Blogging...
grazie, grazie..

Gorgeous charcoal greys and your leaves in gold and stitch. xox
the harvest has flourished in your gentle hand...watching and waiting for the calm...slipping gently into the cold season friends warm each other's hands.
You've captured the spirit of the season perfectly with your subdued palette and brilliant leaf designs!
I dislike transitioning over to a new camera...seems like the learning curve always takes awhile though I think your photos have turned out wonderfully so obviously you've already figured out your new friend!
ah, so beautiful, cat... and i think your new camera takes awesome pics! xoxo
I love your soft muted tones and the handmade paper, the textures, the stitching, everything!
Wonderful pages, love the way you have made the leafs on and also love your color choice, yes Caterina my collages are made on real unused time cards from a factory.

beautiful October pages Cat...
WHERE did October go so quickly!

Very soft and beautiful, as always. Thank you for sharing some of your techniques....I love the look of the grey, soft smudged pencil under gesso and am keen to give it a try. xx
What a lovely idea! I am still so hooked on Autumn and in fact, had to post photos again. I even mentioned feeling a bit melancholy that the season was ending. Your artwork is always so inspiring!
My leaves are almost gone but you have created a sweet reliquary ...the stitching is so simple and elegant. Thank you for visiting my blog...I am still trying to admit it is November already. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez stewart
Nature at it's best....yours! xxoo
The embedded leaves really appeal to me .... and atually I think your photos are pretty good!
Your leaves are beautiful , I will try to do something with my collection from this year too.
Love ♥RINI♥
Wonderful, inspiring pages Cat....I love the way you used the leaves.
Although, like you, I appreciate Autumn's beauty - I am not a fan. Roll on Spring ;-)
So pretty Cat, I think I may try that paper and leaf recipe. If I can find any leaves with color...most are all brown and crumpled now.
I know what you mean about getting used to a new camera...I am trying to figure out
how to get nice pictures without using a flash, something I could easily do with my old, broken camera. Everything new is just so complicated and I don't have the patience to learn techno things.
Anyway, took a look at your other posts too...Love♥
The leaves ~ what you have done with them is so beautiful. Thankful for your ingenuity.
Excited about the new issue of Artful Blogging. I adore the publication and know how very extra special this next one will be.
Angel blessings.
So lovely Cat, your stitched and layered leaves, soft and gold. I love your photographs too and know you will get used to your new camera soon! Autumn is not over yet and how I wish it would stay around for awhile.
