butterflies are free

ciao!
I have managed to
find some time to stitch up
a little butterfly
for
The Butterfly Project

as some of you know by now,
that
Trudi Sissons
is
hosting
on her blog,

so here she is...
my idea was to create two butterflies
representing the individual and the allness of the soul...

my ingredients are:
small butterfly: transfer on linen, butterfly wings printed on tissue paper
thread and pearl charm
large butterfly: transfer of garden flowers on cotton, silk threads, Wonder Under and cardboard

hopes to collect a million
butterflies
representing the million
children who died in the holocaust...
how beautiful it would be?

to see a million
butterflies
flying free...

  10. You snuck that design in under my nose!!! I was blown away when I saw the finished product. I thought I had seen the completed piece this morning on Bell'Antico.

I just "met" Trudi yesterday. What fun to finally see where I'll be sending my butterfly. Seems like it's the one project I keep putting on the back burner. Love how yours came together.

Not sure I told you, but I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

  17. Your butterflys are wonderful and the project fabulous. Thank you for your kind comment on Laura's blog. I do have one problem with your art.....I bought a few pieces this year that were supposed to be Christmas gifts and....I cannot bear to part with them. Oh well, off to shop after the commotion dies down! Happy Thanksgiving!

    Magie de la création.

  34. Oh Cat - it's been sitting here right under my 'thumb' for over a week...what a blessing your are - I get choked up everytime I see a butterfly for the project and get to witness the tender loving care and thought that went into its creation. I swear, I haven't felt so many tender moments so consistently for so many months now, in my lifetime. Knowing your spirit through getting to know you here, well, it just adds to my belief that we are all connected more than we'll ever know - as Oprah said recently - we are so much more than these 'little human suits' walking about everywhere!
    Many blessings,
    Trudi

  36. Magical! When I think of butterflies, I always think of my daughter. When she was a child, one landed on her upper lip and stayed there for about ten minutes. Coincidentally, November 23rd is also her birthday. Thanks for this wonderful post.

  37. ooooo, I like! Especially all of the tiny stitching that enhances the "water color" on the outer wings.
