italian collage

I am currently working on
several projects in the studio right now...
including a swap..
videos and instructions
for class...
my new jewelry is coming along...
and the santos for the doll show this summer
"Art of the Doll, Sacred Objects"
in July...

Tall Grass

however the progress is a bit slow
and I am no where near ready to show even a sneaky peek
of those...
but this is something I have been working on
for a long time,
and I call it Italian collage, because I use a pasta machine to
create seamless collage
and I can get several layers of collage applied
and build up great texture...
it really is easier to see the texture in person,
but please double click for close ups...

I am rarely satisfied with the edges that are
created with collage and was looking for a way to get
a more cohesive piece of art...

so these pieces are part of my new "Flight" collection ... going
to the Creative Underground at Timeless Creations here in Fort Collins...
I have been promising Christi some new work for eons now
and I am finally satisfied with the work...

that is thread pressed into the paper above...
it flattens nicely and embeds into the collage and substrate...

Filtered Light

packing material below....

Rising Heat

the next piece is the largest
with packing material, parchment paper, paper ribbon
and paper shred... up to 6 layers...

handmade papers and tissue paper which melts in a
yummy and delicious way...

Quail in a Mist

and now, I just need to mount them and find a few frames!!
before I take them to Christi...
ingredients: acrylic paint, antique images and letters, envelopes, packing materials, paper ribbon, handmade papers, tissue papers, book bindings, paper shred, paste papers, thread,
and parchment paper.

finally...
Dharma and I want to say mille grazie for all your
kind remarks about our video debut...
he got all dressed up just to tell you how
much he appreciates your kindness!
and... of course... the studio is normally in a state of creative chaos,
but we all know what THAT looks like..
so we cleaned it up for visitors!

have a great week!
ciao!
